Things to do with Kiddos in Greater Grand Rapids
- WEST MICHIGAN LIVING
West Michigan is beyond kid friendly and we’re here to share with you some of our favorite spots to hang out with kids in the Greater Grand Rapids area!
Frederick Meijer Gardens: This is definitely at the top of our list for a reason. Not only is this one of the BEST places to spend some time with your kids in the spring, but they also have fun classes, exhibits, story times, and crafts all year round! Take them to see the butterflies and the plants and let them enjoy the Lena Meijer Children’s Garden as well as the other great exhibits.
The Grand Rapids Children’s Museum: You may have been able to guess that we were going here next, but it’s for good reason! The GRCM allows for creativity and fun to flow out of your kids and they also have various changing exhibits to enjoy (Currently it’s Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood Grr-ific Exhibit). And if you’re looking to go when it is a bit more budget friendly, then Thursday nights are for you; The museum has $6 admission for family night.
Or take a visit to The Grand Rapids Public Museum for some more history and exploration for your older kiddos!
Your neighborhood library: The Kent District Library has so much to offer for your kids. From story times to educational events to summer reading programs, you really can’t lose! Look up your closest library and get plugged in with your kids!
John Ball Zoo: The John Ball Zoo is always a blast for your kiddos! They get to learn all about animals and ecosystems while seeing them live in action! They have a petting zoo, bird feeding exhibit, and other interactive exhibits as well. The zoo also hosts kids camps during spring and summer breaks as well as various classes.
Millennium Park: Running around on trails, splashing in the splash pad, playing on playgrounds, and kayaking are only a few things this GR staple has to offer. Millennium Park is great place to hang out with your kiddos no matter the season!
Blandford Nature Center: Visit the nature center with your kids for an enriching experience! The Blandford Nature Center offers wildlife encounters, nature-oriented events, and classes that will surely blow your kids minds! This is a center for fun! Check out their events calendar for all the details on days and times that are extra fun for visiting.
Allegan Event: This is the largest indoor ropes course in Michigan and is such a fun place for your kids to use up their energy in an extra active way! They even have spaces for group parties, birthday parties, and other events that is available to kids of all ages. Take a trip out to Allegan Event to climb, play mini golf, play in the arcade, do the ropes course, and make memories!
