Our January Giveback: Together We Rise/Foster Love
Here are The Local Element we love to get our Local Experts involved in events so that we can spend time together learning and growing and creating a community. Every other month, we choose to spend that time helping out in the communities we live in!
This month is a little different because the nonprofit we are pairing with is not necessarily local to West Michigan, but has a really cool mission and we are excited about partnering with them to make a difference!
Introducing you to Together We Rise/Foster Love:
Together We Rise is a nonprofit based out of Southern California that supports kids in the foster care system in a variety of ways. It is no surprise that kids in foster care are often neglected by the public and Together We Rise strives to make the quality of life for those kiddos better. They collaborate with individuals, companies, and community partners to bring resources to foster youth and use service-learning activities to educate volunteers on issues surrounding the foster care system.
They offer services of all kinds, from sending kids boxes of fun to providing programs and classes for college students previously in the foster care system and foster care families to offering scholarships for foster youth across the country.

The amount of options they have for your involvement and the amount of resources they provide for foster families is phenomenal and we encourage you to visit their website to learn more! You can donate on their website and sign up for creating one of their options of boxes or sweet cases to send foster to kids.
Our Involvement
This past Friday our team got together to decorate sweet cases!
We gathered around a table and channeled our inner child by coloring and using templates to create cute sweet case covers!
What are sweet cases you might ask?
Sweet cases are decorated duffle bags for children entering the foster care system. By doing this you make a difference in the lives of foster children by replacing trash bags with custom duffle bags for their belongings when they are moving from home to home. The harsh reality is that almost every 2 minutes a child enters the foster care system which means that there are many sweet cases that need to be made for these kiddos!
